| The architecture
of the site follows the idea of intertextual structures, which in this
case are generated by the superposition of different navigation systems.
Each navigator proposes a specific approach of the project
and generates its own spatial and temporal organisation. The superposition
of the different connected logic creates an intertextual
environment by combining navigation through text, image, graphic and
logos.
The intertwinedness of information and its complex spatial structure is the result of the use of different representation forms and navigation logic. The interfaces of the site are laid-out in aim to offer the possibility of a linear guided lecture as well as the freest way to read the project. The design of the site can be assigned to the conceptual approach of the urban design, overlaying different information and spatial systems in order to create an intertextual environment [circuit]. The specific attention paid to the interface design by overlaying the navigators follows the investigation to flatten different information systems into a continuous medium integrating global and local systems. The urban design according to the site design can so be understood as the creation of a complex matrix of interconnected and intertwined information supports. The perception of the urban as a shape of information field condition - proposes a textual approach to the urban [from context to hypertext]. |

| Global Navigation Systems The global Navigation Systems are superstructures forming the initial base of the pages, independent form their content, they propose a structured lecture within the project. Page lay-out |

The graphic layout of each page
combines fix navigation systems such as: top table /header (-point 3_ info) and a bottom
frame /footer (-point2_info) as well as specific hyperlinks images/graphics
hotspots and text links - according to the particular content of each page. The superposition of the fixed and structural elements with more intuitive and direct reading links proposes thematic as well as personalised navigation. |

The info navigator is a graphic interface assigned to global navigation which allows at any time not only a general perception of the entire site but also the visualisation of visited pages [changing link colours]. The navigator functions as an interactive site map illustrating the main superposed structural elements without displaying all the free links assigned to the different pages. The graphic reduction of the complex web of interconnected pages, to structural representation permits an external overview of the site, where the visitor can get situated and reorientate its reading path. The basic display of all the pages separates external representation map view from internal possible navigation action. But the simultaneous accessibility to the entire content of the site permits, in opposition to the local navigation systems, a discontinuous and fragmented lecture. By jumping via the info navigator the visitor get instant access to specific and dispersed information. The different superposed graphics of the info navigator represents the main structural elements of the site: 1_ the two generic texts liquid axis and pop into the transit[e] zone are represented as two vertical columns according to their continuous and linear logic. The texts are crossed by transversal- thematic links. These left right sections in the continuous text illustrate the interconnections of the two texts throughout the different concepts by tracing a passage from specific understanding of the project liquid axis to a more general investigation of the urban. 2_ the 6 horizontal bands propose a specific thematic approach of the project by following the Left/right logic, as the passage from the specific /local to the general/global. The crossing points of these horizontal bands with the vertical structure of the text establish the main used terms of the project. The bands allow a free horizontal circulation within the different degrees of conceptualisation of each notion. The transversal organisation of the different themes establishes a stratification of the site- levels. Each level corresponds to a respective bottom frame navigator existing on all pages. Additional elements - logos, can be attached to the footers, in order to provide connections to local and global navigation systems. 3_ the overlaid circle provides access to peripheral information of the project. It corresponds to the navigation system placed on the top of each page, and accessible at any level of the structure. The header is a graphic navigation system designed for a circumstantial understanding of the project such as: - general information about lab[au], information about the competition context, - |

| Navigator / R_F : R_F snapshot is based on a spatial lecture across the project, visualising simultaneously photoshots of the urban factory Reality, as well as the corresponding frames of the animation of the project, liquid axis Fictions. The navigation throughout the R_F system follows a linear and progressive lecture according to the spatial structure of the axis. [0m 1100m] Throughout the different shots/frames, sensitive zones give the possibility to link the spatial to the conceptual structure of the project: _The photos of the existing urban fabric are linked to the corresponding sections of the project, _the frames are linked to different conceptual approaches. The navigator favour the spatial logic of the project by shortcutting the horizontal and vertical thematic organisation of the site only snapping superficially to conceptual issues of the project. |

| Navigator / U_s : The U_s Navigator is based on a visual lecture throughout the project by exploiting the assembled photo band urban scenario. The navigation follows the linear and continuous space of the axis, represented in form of projected activities onto the urban fabric. The navigator proposes an interactive approach to the axis as a support of activity rather than representation. The U_s Navigator offers the possibility to get connected via text links to the corresponding section of the project or via image hotspots to the corresponding animated sections of the project. The navigator allows the passage from a static view to an animated understanding of the project by coupling programmatic requirements, spatial arrangements and urban ambiences. |

Navigator / P_C :
P_C Navigator is based on a visual lecture throughout the project by exploiting the vector of the different Panels, produced for the urban design Competition: the redesign of the civic axis, Thessaloniki 1997. The navigation follows the linear and graphic structure of the panels, recommended by the regulation of the competition. The P_C Navigator allows the passage from a linear organisation to a textual understanding, where the sensible zones propose to jump through the different themes developed for the urban idea competition.
